A coin bank for my niece

It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with it.

Tim,

That looks great! Did you cut both the wood and the acrylic with the MPCNC?

Yes I did. I should have had a little more tolerance built in. I had to file the acrylic a little bit to get it to fit. I drilled the screw holes by hand, but I wish I had incorporated those into the design. It would have been easier to redo the acrylic if I had screwed something up I think. Lessons learned.

But it all worked out. My niece was very excited to put in all the change people gave her. She’s 3 years old.

That is an awesome idea. How deep is the pocket?

The pocket is a little less than 1 1/4". It is two 3/4" pieces of oak glued together. Stands about 8.5 inches tall.

Oh, so you cut a hole in one and a pocket in the other, then glued them together? Smart. Great project.

That’s really nice! I was wondering how you were able to cut a pocket that deep… two pieces makes sense.
