Anybody speak this language?

Yeah it is from people buying the machine on other sites, and then later coming here for free help. I always thought it is nice for you to help people with your design, even if they didn’t give you any money for it. It’s sad knowing sometimes being generous gets taken advantage of.

Kaihatsu Cnc sells it and answers design questions like they actually designed the parts, even have a you tube channel for “their” design.

A different seller says to come to these forums to ask questions.

I know who has been here and who has contributed and been a huge part of this community, I will always share my future designs with you guys. I am really stunned and don’t know what to do.

I am going to try and blow off some steam and finish this giant table in my garage so I can test this full sheet machine already, fell dumb with it just assembled sitting on the carpet for the last few days.

I totally agree and I wouldn’t release anything new if I were you. It’s too bad that they’re ruining this for everyone else but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I want to figure out a way to keep releasing things to people somehow. I have been going a little crazy here trying to figure out what was going on and to find out this is why hurts.

Keep those fingers crossed that this lawyer has an easy solution.

This is ridiculous that they can get awaway with this. Your invention is genius and you have always been generous with your time and help. I’ll continue to support you and your products and continue to recommend it to everyone.
I don’t know if you’ve seen it but they are also selling ut on Facebook. Here’s the link so you can file a complaint with Facebook to get their pages removed.

Good luck and know that you are supported and we’ll all do what wr can to help

Just left a comment on Kaihatsu channel. What a dick…

Jees, I never even noticed how many were being sold by other people. Maybe in the future there will be a mpcnc 2 that does enough to distinguish itself so it can be a brand new stand alone sort of deal. Kind of like what prusa did except theirs was supposed to be knocked off. That idea seems pretty unrealistic now that I think about it. Hopefully all goes well

Rayn I live in Argentina. Mercado Libre is an Ebay partner… may be you have better luck contacting them?

Have you tried this page (sorry, only spanish, please try the google translator or I can help you with the language):

Your design is nothing short of genius. I’m amazed every time I look at it. I hate that here are scums with zero respect that do these things.

I would * place a notice on the home page that your design is being copied by others etc. *

Your the first hit on google so that’s a good thing. I bought my electronics / bearings from you and would gladly do it again. You put a lot of time and work into sourcing and making sure everything will he there and work together.

Is there some kind of attorney general or consumer protection part of the Argentina government that would have some impact? I’m sort of asking Martin, or maybe you should ask the lawyer. Contacting ebay is a good idea too.

You have a legitimate copyright. I can’t understand how they won’t honor that.

Yes, there are attorney general, but I think you will have the same problem… language.
Also, Ryan is trying to enforce his copyright, I don’t think this government office can help him.

Mercadolibre is a very serious and responsible business, they are listed in NASDAQ (https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/MELI?ltr=1). I think Ryan has to insist with them.

Today I’ve informed on all the mpcnc kits published in the site as they are not compliant with the license. May be if there are a lot of informs, they do something.

You need to BRAND/ watermark all your pics with your Vicious Logo I know its a PITA but then it will be so much harder to for him to use them! Also we can ALL bomb his site with constant comments for awhile til he gets the point. You could also set up a VERIFIED Customer portal to keep your files that way only people who have purchased from V1 get the new files you design and watermark them like all the pics with the V1 Logo.

Martin, What is the inform link? Also does that guy have a Facebook? You can also translate the entire page using this site and there is a section regarding picture post which could possible violate the terms of his site usage but using stolen pics

It is all through mercadilibre.com

They keep replying and trying to send me to different places to register my patent. When I explain it is not a patent it is a licensing issue they don’t “understand” and send me another link. They are being super shady about the whole thing.

I have sent there ISP a DMCA notice they are supposed to reply within 10 days but I think they are not going to.

Looks like they have even deleted my account on there site so I can not comment on all the links anymore.

The guy that had a facebook page said he would delete his posts but hasn’t removed them from Mercadolibre. I am working with someone who wants to be an authorized seller from south America but negotiations are slow. Probably because there is so much competition down there already…

I do have to say every other site in the entire world has handled this issue much better than mercadolibre, they are scum bags that are purposely dragging their feet and sending me on wild goose chases in foreign languages. ebay handled it within hours, other sites within 24hrs probably just because of the time differences.

Hi Ryan,

I’m from Brazil, and I live relatively close to Argentina, where the leech occurs… I’m not spanish (neither english) speaker, but I have a good understand in that language and I’ll be happy to help you with whatever I can in this matter…

Ryan,

I’m very sorry go hear about the trouble you’re having. This is my first post on your forum, and I just completed the build of my own MPCNC after about a month of working on it. Just finished my first cut last night. It works flawlessly, the engineering on the parts still amazes me after a month of interacting with them, and I cannot express the feeling of accomplishment I have after printing the parts myself and having this machine work. People I show it to are also amazed, and can’t believe how open source and scalable it is.

The open source community needs people like you who are willing to lend their talent and creativity to facilitate the joy of others. Thank you, and if there is anything I can do for you let me know.

Best Regards

Paul

Thank Paul, It is slow going I just heard back from the first ISP I sent the DMCA notice too, But I figured out it was the wrong one on the second day and resent it in two languages. I am hoping they respond soon. I have made a lot of phone calls and everyone on the phone seemed to take this very seriously. Mercado libre has given me a different representative…more wild goose chasing such a shame for a giant publicly listed company to act this way. If anyone has a chance look at the “form” they sent it is attached in a previous message above. It is a spreaadsheet, with basically check boxes but asking for tons of information, a freaking joke. When you fill it out it is a nightmare of jumbled overlapping information.

The guy we all found on facebook has taken down all his public stuff…except his store listing on mercado libre and all of our pictures are still watermarked and after personal emails back and forth he has stopped responding. They are hiding behind mercado libre.

I really hope I sent it to the right ISP and I hope they step up because this is ridiculous. They have thousands upon thousands of listing, why are they fighting to keep 30 of them up?

This has slowed my drive to finish the new machine and when I do (hopefully tonight) I am actually not sure what I will do with it.

Maybe the best idea would be a paywall access to the STLs? Sure, someone could pay and download the stls + redistribute, but at least you would make some money off of it, and it may be easier to assert ownership rights over a product that has a primarily monetary distribution system than a Creative Commons approach.

I’m a musician and we are faced with the same conundrum. Music is basically free today, and even going through “legit” sources like streaming services, we make pennies compared to what we used to. Despite that, musicians these days can still make a living wage, not through the leeches, but by having a way for their BIGGEST FANS who love them to support them (shows, merch, perks, etc). So even if some of their music is pirated or streamed, the people that really understand will contribute. Maybe that answer is to sell the printed parts of your next design, and sell the files for a reasonable fee.

Paul

I would pay for the STLs, now that I know what the machine is like. If I had to pay for them before I had known that, I’m not sure I would have, although once I started printing the parts, I gladly bought the vitamins from v1engineering.com.

I also don’t know how much legitimacy there is to saying that a copyright is easier to enforce when they are behind a pay wall. A copyright is a copyright, and the leeches are violating that. If they paid $9.99 for the plans, they would be violating it as much as downloading them from thingiverse.

You do have some BIGASS FANS. Maybe a patreon page would get some traction? I know things like octoprint are supported this way. Or maybe a kickstarter like micropython did, where they were basically giving supporters first access to their latest stuff, but it ended up being open source a bit after it was bleeding edge?

All those ideas aside, there really should be a way to take down the stuff on mierda libre. Your copyright is as solid as the ones used by Nike.

Thanks guys.

I can only hope this gets resolved soon, the LowRider is almost ready for release (fingers crossed) I am just not sure what to do now. I will not be releasing any files until this is resolved one way or another. I can sell kits maybe but that is no fun at takes away from the spirit of it all. I don’t want to force anyone to give me money, I just don’t want anyone to profit from all of our collective hard work with out giving anything back. Imagine if you had the Kentucky Fried Chicken secret herbs and spices or famous amos’ cookie recipe to use at home for free, you just couldn’t sell it…That is how this feels to me. Use it for free have fun enjoy it, let the creator have some sort of income so I can continue to create.
