Caliper mount for the Primo

I’m been procrastinating surfacing my spoilboard. It makes such a mess, but I’ve have a few bigger items to cut, so It has to be done. I wanted to dial in the spoilboard as much as possible to reduce the amount of cutting mess, so I created this Primo mount to hold digital calipers. I was very pleased at how it performed. I marked four points in a bit from the corner of the spoilboard. Use the mounted calipers to find the highest point, zeroed the calipers, then pushed the calipers around to the other corners and adjusted them to match. I had to go around a few times to get it right. I found loosing the screws a bit, moving the corner up noticeably then tapping the corner to bring it into position worked well. I did some sampling on the rest of the spoilboard to give me a good idea of how deep I’ll need to cut.

Interesting idea! I’ve just done this using feeler gauges under an end mill at the four corners to get as level as possible.
