Interesting read for sure Jeff… I always thought it was because it was too hot for some dogs to stay outside lol. That is what I came up with when I was a kid watching Dog Day Afternoon with my parents, and they did not know the etymology I asked for. Isn’t wiki great!?

Edit… but really, I am still curious about svg conversion for my zenxy.

think the magical equation here is the size of the svg, the thickness of and spacing between the lines, how well the thickness render the details in the photo, and the consistency of the tool used for plotting. I don’t have any answers yet, but I’m very certain that I can save time rendering the svg and plotting with the MPCN, if I use fewer lines in the svg and find the sweet spot between speed and image quality.

I would add to that the minimization of the number of times the pen or tool has to move up and down, as well as the algorithmic ability of the CAM software to compute optimized, shortest paths probably play a huge role in saving time.

I have to add to this sub-topic that the virtual machine running Ubuntu works great. If anyone else are looking to try this - without having a linux box running, I can recommend it warmly.

VirtualBox is indeed a great tool. I’ve used it in the past to virtualize Manjaro, Debian, and ArchLinux for different things. vpype seems to be cross-platform compatible though?

As the temperature increase, plant growth accelerates to a certain point where things are finished blossoming and they start to rot. The temperature in the ocean rises as well, so that the same processes happen there. After longer periods of heat, people get tired, irritated and aggressive (or passive?), I guess it might be the same for animals?

We usually call this period autumn, and here in Central Europe, it’s quite a magical, beautiful thing with all the colourful leaves falling, temperatures improving a little before the winter winds bring discomfort, humans getting busier again shaking of their summer flegmatism, and late-summer or autumn flowers and plants coming into season.

What is special for the dog days along the coast here in Norway, is that this period is known for being the time of year where people having died and disappeared at sea float to the surface… biology can be brutal indeed.

Damn… I now imagine you as an Iron Islander from A Song of Ice and Fire, worshipping the Drowned God and stuff.
