What end mills do I want 1/8 in or 1/4 inch 1 flute or 2 flute ? I will mostly be cutting oak and cherry 3/4 to 1 inch. 24 x 30 x 4 cut area
I’m loving single flute bits lately. Try both sizes in a single flute, 1/8" works great but if your design allows a 1/4" might work.
Depends on your rpm. If you are running a slower spindle, lets say anything under 20k rpm, a double flute might be worth getting. 1/4" is a lot more demanding on the machine but can be the smarter choice depending on the job at hand.
Demanding in what way ? slower or faster spindle ?
A larger bit is harder to drag through the material as it takes larger bites out of it, putting more torque on the machine and frame.
