I just downloaded the 8mm threaded rod Marlin from this website (This link: https://www.v1engineering.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/B16_32_8mm-LCD-112515.zip) and I can’t upload it to my Mega. I uploaded the same firmware last week and I can’t see what is wrong today 
Arduino has changed some things so the firmware has changed with it. Old firmware needs an older version of arduino. If you use the RC7 firmware just change the z axis steps and you can use the new arduino ide.
As soon as I am confident in the RC8 I will update all the different versions of the firmware.
