ESTLCAM issue - hessitation on sharp corner

Hey guys.

I’m cutting the shape in the screenshot, using ESTLCAM and Repetier. It’s going great, until the bit gets to the left “shoulder” on the first shapes. Here it slows down a lot, and almost stands still for a second or two. Long enough that it smells like smoke, and the wood gets burned.

I don’t know what causes this - since everything else is cutting smoothly.

Any ideas?

What board are you using, what firmware, and are you using arcs or not?

Hey Ryan.

I’m using the SKR 1.3 with Marlin 2.0. I compiled it myself. Not sure about arcs - is it a setting in the firmware?

It is a setting in Estlcam. It can either use arc commands, or approximate them with line commands.

Thanks. The option for arc commands is enabled. It’s set to G02 and G03 under the “commands” tab in CNC Program Settings.

Have a look at the settings we use for arcs in config advanced. It took a lot of work to get them smooth and fast.

Thanks, Ryan. I’ll check it out.
