I’m starting my first build and would like to check if my chosen dimensions are ok. I’m limited by space so have to drop the Y-dimension:
Workspace
450 mm x
220 mm y
81 mm z

My build is roughly 450mm on both x and y and with a similar z.
I have been successful in cutting several materials including lot of aluminum.
Yeah, it’s the 220mm I’m concerned about.

Smaller axis lengths limit the size of the workpiece that will fit, but actually increase rigidity. There shouldn’t be any machine operational downsides to smaller, just work size limitations. If you can, try to leave space to the sides and you could slide longer pieces through and do them in multiple setups.
