Horizontal Tool Mount

Has anyone tried to mount their spindle horizontally? Z still moves up and down, but now the bit/mill is traversing through material like a standard X or Y move. I am looking to dove tail, box, finger, etc joints. With a 44" tall table, I can’t stand the board up vertically, like I’ve seen on YouTube a 100 times, and be able to have a board longer than that 44" (-ish). Any thoughts, other than, “That’s a dumb idea because…”

Thanks everyone.

Interesting. I am not sure how well that would work. Maybe a better way would be to use the CNC to cut your templates or jigs, perfect repeatable cuts. That is the plan with the new LowRider parts. I am going to CNC the holes and then use a template for the larger cuts, attached in a screw hole.
