Looking for guidance: Repurposing an older kindle fire

Hi all, i made my first cuts on my MPCNC… woo hoo. I am excited about the learning curve and making stuff.

I found an older kindle fire 7 kicking around. I would love to repurpose it as a touchscreen for the V1pi I am about to print online. At first glance, there are no good online guides.

I hate the kindle OS, and you be perfectly happy with a lightweight Linux install.

Anyone have any guidance before I think about reinventing the wheel?

Thanks
Ben

Ok it looks like it was more about finding the right search terms.

Kindle screen and pi.

To be continued

If it has a web browser, it can connect to a v1pi. If you want a sleeker setup, you’d need to install the tiny web pendant for cnc.js or the touch ui for octoprint. But I would only mess with that if the interface is unusable from the screen as is.

The kindle interface is aweful, and painfully slow. I plan on repurposing the hardware or just using my phone via WiFi. More to learn…
