Given where my mpcnc is located & mounted as can be seen in the picture. I was thinking of trying to make a mounting system so that the roll of material sits directly over the z axis.
My concern is would this introduce other problems when printing?

Shouldn’t. My filament sits above my printer. Though it’s not attached to the printer. It feeds through a hole in the top of my enclosure.
Thats an interesting idea. Have to have a think an see if I could build a lightweight enclosure.perhaps out of alu angle?
I’d just mount the spool above the printer on the wall.
