Is the material just MDF? Also, I might as well ask, what is the exact paint you use? Spray or brush? Satin or matte? That kind of stuff 
They look good.
Those signs were 1/2" mdf. I used a filler primer and satin spray paint. I think I used krylon but I prefer Rust-Oleum.
Thanks. I had never heard of filler primer. Will give it a shot.
It’s meant for automotive body work but I wanted to give it a shot to smooth out the sides of the material, I wasn’t employing a finish pass at that point so the cut sides were a little messy. It kind of helped give it a smooth coated finish.
