Need guidance

I’m just at the xy part of my rolling gantry. I reassembled the burly center components and when I tightened all the bearings up the movement became quite stiff.

The bolts are just tight not collapsing the plastic and all bearing move freely. How tight is an acceptable amount to avoid slop or blacklash, but gives the desired freedom of movement.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You should be able to move it around by hand fairly easily, although it won’t glide once you let go. I guess I could push mine with one finger.

It’s not critical, so get your motors connected and see if it can move without skipping steps. If you’re using galvanised conduit, the surface will smooth out a bit after a while.
