New wire kit style?

I finally got in the ribbon cable samples. What do you think? They will cost a tiny bit more but I think the grey ones are pretty sexy. This would sadly only be available for the Z axis and the dual axis wires, can’t really do the series with them.

Showoff! With your fancy cables on your fancy sand table.

But seriously, I like the gray ones too. Those patterns on the wires make me think of turntables that have the strobe that sync up with the platter.

Yeah it is a tough call, There are a ton of dual endstop kits selling, and the wires are sexy…I have about 2000 left before I need to decide and place an order for more. I just think with them on the dual kits people will not worry about using cable chains…at least on the X and Y.

Can’t you use the ribbons to extend the motors close to the electronics and then have a short pigtail that wires them in series or dual endstops?

They look great.

Yeah that would be the better option, cost more but switching would be easier. Maybe I can finally try my hand at a pcb design. Could be a good skill to have. I think it would be cheaper than a bunch of crimped wires.

I should google first I guess.

Whoa…Oshpark for the win. Kinda pricey, need the bulk discount. Come on Costco carry the stuff I really need.

The problem with buying connectors in bulk is that you have to solder each of them. Unless your planning on selling them unsoldered.

Perhaps he could duplicate a few on a bigger plate and cut them to get a better price… And print a rig to solder the connectors on it

I need more than I would be willing to do by hand. I need to switch up some wiring stuff. If I included a 6 wire ribbon and moved the end stop onto the roller, or moved the stepper to a corner it would make for a really clean machine. Or Just stop carrying the Mini’s buy the Rambos in larger quantities and try to save another dollar or two and just use a diver per stepper…Ahhh the options can make you insane sometimes.

Last night I was trying to make a new foot/corner but instead, I sketched up a new gantry…not sure if I thought of everything but if I did…

How about these?

Those are parallel, and in French (or is that just my AliExpress on my phone?).

If you’re making your own pcb, what about making a ramps board with the series wiring?

I just upgraded to dual endstops and mounted them on the rollers. I route the endstop and stepper wires thru the gantry tubes and then into a cable chain that all ends up at the back left corner.

The dual endstops are amazing. Click, click, click, home and the alignment is perfect and repeatable. Thanks to all who worked it out.

I need to get on using this dual end-stop setup already dang it.
