Primo stepper problems

I was just doing some test cuts because I am still having problems with losing some steps. I hooked it up to a 12v car battery to help see if my power supply was causing other problems. Now it barely moves at all, I opened up the case and the steppers were not even warm at all. Battery still reads a full 12vdc
Cheap Arduino Mega Ramps 1.4.
A4988 drivers, motors in series, stepper at 0.6v-0.8v (it was hard to get back in there)
In this video I turned the stepper voltage up a bit. When I touch one of the 3 pots with my multimeter the axis moves, which I found weird.

Did this start after you fired the torch or something? What changed?

I wonder if the torch fried the drivers. Or anything else for that matter.

Are you getting serial comms with your arduino and/or is the display working if you have one?

Turns out 5v regulator on arduino is going out. Hook up usb and everything is back to normal. Thanks for the help.
