Retirement Fireman’s Shield

Fireman’s Shield for a retirement party made on the LR2. Designed in Illustrator and programed in Estlcam.

This is salvaged red oak from an old table. Made with 1/8” & 1/4” end mills and 60° V carve on the back. Center was roughed out on CNC and then finished with hand tools. Finished with blond shellac.

That is a great surface finish, I hope it did not take too much work with the hand tools.

Not at all. Doing the grunt work with a futuristic 3D printed CNC and finishing up with ancient cast steel tools is a trip!
