So I have started printing the parts to build a ZenXY and I was wondering, is there any type of leveling or sand maintenance that needs to be done periodically? I would assume that by moving the sand around over time that more would end up in certain places and thin out in others. Does this happen? Just a thought.

It does scoot around. It is good to generally balance inside and outside patterns, which is why sandify has a reverse switch.
