Shoe tree

I finished my first project on the MPCNC: a “tree” to hold shoe boxes for my wife’s shoes.

She really likes these IKEA shoe boxes. However, they are very wobbly and will fall over if you try to stack a bunch of them vertically.

So we got creative and designed something that resembles a tree in OpenSCAD:

My MPCNC workspace is 68x48 cm (26" x 17") and the tree is almost 160cm (63") tall. So I split it in 3 parts. I cut all 3 parts twice from 15mm MDF, once for the front and once for the back. I painted everything before assembling. I put some planks in between to connect the front and back and put a couple of small rubber feet on the bottom.

This is the end result:

Both my wife and I are very happy with it!

That looks great! Great project!

I was scratching my head trying to figure out what was going on with that last picture. It looks like some kind of composite…

Secret of the last picture

It’s a mirror.

Yes, you’re right! I hadn’t noticed, because I see it every day. I guess in reality it’s more clear. But if you kind of “shift your focus” it’s quite a weird image indeed! Like this classic old/young lady optical illusion
