Spring loading the Z Axis

Hey there,

 

i was just wondering, if the Z Axis lowering could be prevented by springloading it?

Would there be any negative downsides of doing so?

 

If i need to hit the emergency switch, the Z Axis comes down so fast, that the spinning bit ruins the workpiece almost every time (Happy that i need to press it not that often :D)

Springs don’t apply a constant force. They apply a force proportional to the distance to their resting position. That would make them tough to use in this situation, especially if you were trying to make them push up from the carriage.
