If the y travels to the end of its length but the motor keeps going is it possible for the typical nema 17 steppers to pull hard enough on the belts to stretch them out?
I did this on accident and now there’s a ton of slack in the belt. I’m just trying to decide if it’s a ruined belt or if the zip ties simply slipped.
Extremely unlikely (unless you have steel cores and the cores failed). Even 6mm belts are much stronger than the nema 17 motors and skipping steps is pretty harmless. I’d say something else slipped.
The teethe can skip in the zip tie loop. That’s happened to me.
Yeah I’m thinking that has to be what happened. I guess after retightening if the y starts traveling all wonky then we’ll know I’ve been feeding my steppers to much roids.
