Unsynced Y1 Y2 stepper during helical ramp

Dear all,

After months of work we finally have finished our mpcnc, the satisfaction was soo big using it the first time. We based our model on the artisan 3
This is our setup:
Ramps 1.4 - GRBL
Dual motors on X and Y axis.
Range: X = [0,250mm] , Y = [0,90mm]
At this moment we haven’t implemented end stops and are working with soft and hard limits off.

After some testing we came along some interesting problems that we were able to solve ourselves. Learning it this way made us understand the machine better and better.

But today we discovered a new problem, after troubleshooting and looking on the internet we didn’t find any insights that could help.

The problem is as follows:
When we try to mill a pocket, we use a helical ramp to start this.
We notice that the stepper motors are not in sync during the small helical movements downwards, this creates a chatter and ugly movements that we rather want to avoid. One stepper motor moves normally but the other moves way to slow.
After the helical ramp the following gcode is exectued properly.
We have tried to change the VREFS and the firmware settings in universal gcode sender but for so far there was no succes in getting the helical ramp done without chatter due to the async stepper motors.

Thanks in advance!

If it is only on the ramps it is probably the gcode or plunge speed being exceeded and x y settings. Try a different plunge setting or ramp type.
