Upgrade from 525 to Primo?

I’ve been using my 525 build for around two years, sitting through two Texas summers in my garage. When I starting using it again I’ve had a occasional issue with drift on the x axis, it works fine at first but on a fourth or third part it begins to drift.

I initially was thinking of replacing the belts and bearings, but the more I thought the more I considered upgrading to Primo. From what I’ve read, I think I can do the following:

  1. Reuse my electronics (Rambo 1.4), steppers, wiring, and end stops
  2. Reuses my 3/4" conduit
  3. Buy the Burly upgrade kit
  4. Buy 10mm belt
  5. Buy new bearings, possibly not necessary but couldn’t hurt.

I can use the original screw for the z-axis, right? Anything I’m missing.

Thanks.

Is the Z screw a leadscrew or allthread? You need to replace it if it is allthread.

You know, I don’t know. It’s from the 525 kit circa Nov 2018, I think it’s a T8 lead screw.

The leadscrew is an acme thread, which is very flat looking and it usually has 4 threads. The nut is a little brass T nut.

The allthread looks like a 5/16" bolt. The threads are sharp. The nut looks like a hex nut. Sometimes we used the really long hex nut that was like an inch long.

I’ll check later but fairly certain it’s a lead screw. Thanks!
