Ok, after printing the crown, I went back and taped all the wires, put them in wire loom and got everything set a little more permanent.
I have the dual end stops and haven’t messed very much with the coding at all. The stepper motors are warm and I have only been moving the axis to make sure the wiring is all OK with the lengths and that the “tapemeasure trick” works fine. I can still put my hand on the motors, but they are pretty warm. What could be some of the causes?
