X-Axis Cable Management

I liked the idea of the Hackaday tape measure trick, but I wasn’t willing to cut up any of my tape measures to do it. Instead I created a pretty simple solution using a spare bearing and a counter weight (not sure if that’s the right term). The counter weight is just a box that fits around the cable and is filled with a few nuts and bolts for the weight. I’ve been testing it all weekend and it keeps the cable off the table easily. I’m open to hear any suggestions or concerns.

I think the weakest spot is where the cords go into the stepper motor, so I may need to add some reinforcement there.

That’s a good idea! Think I will copy that for my router cable

I love it. What a simple solution.

Here is a link to the files in case anyone wants to give it a try:

Here’s a video of it. It gets hung up slightly where the connector inside the cable is, but it doesn’t cause any problems. https://imgur.com/a/WXZ3Z8h

Hey, just like the weighted hose line for water sprayers at a kitchen sink.

(Edit) oops, “3 months later” sorry to necro this thread
