I am nearing the end of my Low Rider 2 Build and had a question regarding the length of the lead screw length. The lead screws included in the kit were roughly 11.75" long. According to the calculator I can have a maximum length of my z rails at 18". I have the pipe on hand so is there any reason not to cut the z rails at 18"?
Weight difference? May be a negative, could be a positive. I have a 400mm lead screw in the one I just built and I cut the guide rails to 16", which wasn’t long enough to be a perfect match. It works so far, it’s just extra hanging off, probably no point for a router, but might have some purpose for some other device attached, does get a bit wobbly as you go up though.
