So I am trying to get a 3D printer and had a question for anyone who may have one and have used it for this purpose.
Are there any tips for someone doing this?
What printer do you use?
What program do you use to design the sculpts?
I’d love to hear from anyone who has done this or is interested in it.
By Clix I assume you are talking about little figures for games like D&D etc… if so then I will suggest to you the same thing I have been telling my coworker who has the same idea. Don’t get any FDM (plastic filament) type 3D printer. They just don’t have the detail resolution you will want. None of them. Even the best. You will want one of the many Resin type 3D printers. The ones that use liquid a liquid resin and then some form of laser (SLA type) or LCD screen to cure the resin have great detail and super resolution. There are a few on kickstarter right now but I can’t tell you how great they are. The cheapest you will find will be around $500 with resin and stuff. Most will be around $1,000 or more. I have the Form 2 and it rocks! But it sells (sold) for $3,500.
