I’ve been looking around and haven’t found anything sufficiently dumbed-down.
What is the offset in the custom command menu (on the lcd panel). Work offset? Not related to the endstops?
When using the M666 command to adjust the offset while determining the correct offset, the adjustment is temporary and will be lost on power off?
When setting the endstop values to the firmware…is this done with an M-command?
I think I understand the measuring and calculating, though.

The only way I have ever done it is by adjusting and re-flashing the firmware only takes a minute and you know it will stick. Adjustments other ways have had issues in the past so I err on the side of caution and just do it the tried and true way.
Thanks for the quick response. I got the board pre-flashed from yo , and don't have any real experience with this. I have, however....
-taken 2 semesters of Java programming-automated virtually all of the boring parts of my job with vba
-bought an arduino starter kit and made an led change colors.
