Laser control

I am looking to install a LA03-3500 450nm 3.5W Blue Laser Module With TTL. This is using a 0~5 VDC TTL control. And I get that i can re-assign the FAN output pins to 5 VDC max.

But could I also just use a Variable DC to DC controller. Using 12 VDC out into 5 VDC into the laser controller? I don’t really want to have to re-flash my Ramps firmware when I switch back and forth from using the router and laser unit.

Thoughts?

Im not a laser expert, but isn’t there a command for changing one of the aux pins? It just needs to be pwm, I think.

You can bump the 5V to 12V with a simple transistor. I never remember the terms, but some googling should help.
