LR3: YZ plates — is 5/8" plywood OK to use instead of MDF?

LR3: YZ plates — is 5/8" plywood OK to use instead of MDF?

This can be disregarded, I suppose. I found some MDF scraps from a previous project and used them to cut my new YZ plates for my plasma cutting rig.

From what I understand, MDF is more stable than plywood which is why it is recommended to use MDF. Plywood can expand and contract with temperature and humidity. I’m sure you could probably start with the plywood and cut some out of MDF with the LR3 to replace.

Thanks, @Silar, for the heads up about plywood expanding and contracting. As I mentioned above, I found some MDF scraps I had forgotten, and went with MDF.

This is my second LR3 — and I’m using my first LR3 to cut this stuff for the second. My second LR3 is for a plasma cutting rig.

No worries! I just mentioned it since no one had answered in case anyone else see’s this thread and wonders the same question.
