Definitely a step up from having the little shop vac sitting on the table while cutting. Trying out a Chinese vortex separator with a 5 gal bucket.

I have a little cyclone dc that works great too. The main issue I have is how screaming loud the shop vac is connected to it. Does anyone have an especially quiet blower or shop vac that they really like?
My shop vac is definitely loud too. Im planning to build a noise dampening box to try to cut it down, at least until I can justify buying a real dust collector.
Dust collectors are much quieter but need larger 4" hoses… they aren’t all that expensive if you catch a sale. I’ve seen people enclose their shop vacs in boxes with insulation on the inside too.

Real shop vacs are quietish. I think they have larger impellers.
