Wild Speculation - SIP For Table

I build my house out of SIP’s (Structural Insulated Panels) and it is amazing how rigid 2 sheets of OSB with foam between them is. We had a damaged piece that was 8’ long and only 16" wide that two adults could stand on with no problem.

I think the thinnest panel they make is designed to have a 2x4 as a spline to hold them together, so that puts it at 4.5" thick. Of course, you can’t run down to your local big-box store and buy a 5’ x 10’ SIP, but the factory is only about an hour away from me.

What do you guys think?

I suspect a SIP would make a great Lowrider table. The Y plates want a table not more than 4" thick, though. You could but the bottom edge off on a 45* or so to accomadate that.

I think you should give it a try. 8^)
