Mrrf 2020

They say they are for the sponsors so we should be okay.

Good idea.

That could be awesome if it is easy to do. There is a giant Manards right near the hotel, if not in the same place.

So I would like to have a little jig to be able to do names on the badges…all of mine look like a little kid wrote them…and the standard iso drawing, but other than some Sandify designs try to come up with something fun to draw. We have Ron’s ~2’x4’ LR that can draw as well…maybe I can bring some vinyl and transfer tape, that kinda depends on how busy it is.

do you need to put anything under the vinyl when using the drag knife?
My surface is a laminate.

The suggestion is glass, and it makes sense. You don’t want anything that has any give, or the vinyl won’t cut, or you’ll have to use too much pressure. With glass (or any other dead flat, hard surface), you can really dial in the depth of cut/pressure to just cut the vinyl, and leave the backer unscathed. With a laminate, I might be afraid that it’s too soft.

Yeah we can skip stickers it is too hard to transport the vinyl and transfer tape. A table cover is not too expensive but I will need to try and design it ASAP to get it in time.

But replace one (or more) of the triangles with the V1 logo… :mask:

There is already a bad rep for youtuber’s getting sick at mrrf…probably don’t want to add to it.

Conflu happens everywhere. You should see me hacking a lung after defcon! Well, that and they still allow smoking in the casinos, and vaping pretty much anywhere. Vape smog gives me headaches.

They really need to add (more [agressive]) signage to Cons that read “Wash your hands (and body) regularly!” They’re getting better about harassment and assault, time to take on contagions…

Instead of a router, either print a large design, or a bunch of business cards.

The Zen XY would be mesmerizing

I hope to be able to come to an MRRF one of these years. Jealous.

But I am curious if you guys have had a piece of wood that is already carved/cut with 2.5 D cuts. Then just let the machine dry run the finishing cuts over and over at the show. Bring a router or a fake one. The wood piece could have a maze pattern, a logo or something 2.5D so the bit goes up and over the shape of the carving.
Maybe have a slightly smaller Diameter bit or a nail loaded into the router so there isn’t a risk of it getting caught and scratching.

That is a cool idea, do a 3d carve and only have it run without the finishing pass so it gets close…but not too close!

Okay submitted a table cloth design, lets see how the proof looks…simple but dang, inkscape really tests my patience sometimes. I can do so much but some things I just can’t figure out.

They did this at IMTS once…parked a car in the display and let a non-rotating cutter head fly over it during the show.

Three sided 8’ table, any suggestions. Too plain, too bold?

You might enlarge the logo to fill the space, making it harder for someone’s legs to cover it.

I think that one is a little over 5 feet wide. To me it feels a little too big, but you might be right, I’ll double check when I get the actual proof.

If it’s just for MRRF, it’s too plain. If it could be for anything, then it’s just right. I haven’t been to MRRF, but I assume loud, obnoxious graphics are par for the course.

In general though, I think it will add a lot of class, and look great covered in baking soda.. Boy, I hope I can get this thing in a suitcase…
